No Posts On Daniel Penny and Jordan Neely? (Public Board)

What it sounds like happened: Mentally ill man who probably belonged in prison or a secure mental hospital (Jordan Neely) was threatening people on the subway. He wound up in a chokehold by Daniel Penny, passed out, and later died.

The mainstream media is making it sound like Daniel Penny just walked up to Jordan Neely, jumped him by surprise and put him in a chokehold. I guarantee you there was some conflict first, with Jordan Neely probably throwing the first punch or very aggressively provoking Daniel Penny.

It sounds like Daniel Penny is facing 15 years maximum on the manslaughter charge. He is in NYC, so it is almost guaranteed that he will be convicted and a judge will sentence him to the maximum. The leftist spin is that it is 100% Daniel Penny's fault that Jordan Neely died. Jordan Neely has zero responsibility for his actions. Jordan Neely had a huge rap sheet and outstanding warrants for violent crimes.

Daniel Penny is an idiot if he thinks he's going to get a fair trial. He should have left the country and applied for political asylum.

There's a homeless man who lives on a bench in Grand Army Plaza. He wasn't there today. I wonder if someone decided to do a sweep of homeless people?

On the subway tonight, there was a homeless man screaming incoherently, for several minutes. I noticed that he was looking out the train like he was looking for his stop. I realized he was screaming "City Hall! City Hall!" I told him that he was going in the wrong direction, the City Hall stop is the other way. That seemed to satisfy him and he got off the train.

If he had said "I'm looking for City Hall" in a coherent manner, he probably would have gotten a useful response. He couldn't interact any better than screaming "City Hall!" over and over again. I was worried it was another Jordan Neely situation.

Low engagement here. I try but this group is deadish.

The Daniel Penny/Jordan Neely case is the flip side of the Trump conviction for the invented sexual assault case from four decades ago.

Typical "kill whitey" logic. A malfeasance of justice but in the Marxist state we're now in, perfectly understandable.

I heard the same thing but they left out that he has a long rap sheet. The MSM tries to portray him as an entertainer but . . .

There is no way Daniel Penny will get a fair trial in NY. He's white and the victim is black. The media will portray it in that light instead of portraying him as someone who wanted to protect themselves and others from a direct threat.

How do you deal with these freaky people, FSK? I'd be scared they might get violent or start stabbing people. What really sucks is YOU will be prosecuted if you try to defend yourself. Yes, its a shame that Neely died, but he provoked it.

That incident is interesting. There were multiple people involved but only the white guy was charged. Frankly the guy doesnt deserve to go to prison. I find it amusing that the media is making this guy who died out out to be some kind of saint. He was a f*CKING bum and criminal. Just like St. Floyd. The guy who choked him may not end up in prison - the reason I say this is the people in the city HAVE HAD IT.

There is HUGE flight out of the city into LI, NJ and CT. House prices have gone crazy here because the city people want out.

I used to work in NYC. Now you cant pay me to go there, no matter what. Want to know how I know the city is emptying out - NJ Transit trains are NOT full any longer. The closer you would get to the city the fuller they would become. They are NOT, ridership is down. People started working at home and now dont want to go there.

Years ago when I was a kid the homeless were called bums and derelicts. That was until the PC police took over language.

Since the pandemic the trains have gotten MUCH WORSE than anyone can imagine. In the 70s the trains were just dirty from usage and covered with graffiti. The stations at that time were nasty and you got in/out of them as quickly as you could. The trains are much worse now. They are literally filled with garbage, feces, urine and the bums are actually living in the trains. The stations are the same as trains. This is all a result of DeBlasio and his decriminalizing all kinds of things. Giuliani had cleaned up the city but now its worse than ever.

Regardless riding the trains you just dont know what you will encounter. I had tons of encounters when I was riding the trains. Not so much on NJ Transit but on the PATH and subways.

Most people try to avoid problems by not making eye contact and ignoring them. However at times you cant do that. Than you get the f*ck off the train. Change cars or just get off the train.

The scariest time is when you cant change trains and its between stations. You ARE TRAPPED.

When you are cornered you may have to do something drastic - I have sprayed more than a few them with pepper spray. A blast to the face ALWAYS stops them in their tracks. Takes a few seconds for them to feel but it ALWAYS stops them.

I saw crazy stuff when I was on the trains:

One day this bag lady got on the PATH and pulled out a pair of garden shears - you know the big ones that you use to trim hedges. She was literally waving them around and walking up to people and asking them if they wanted some of this.

Another time a guy came on to the train on all fours and was barking like a dog. Then he whipped out his equipment and was urinating on everything in sight.

There was another time a guy got on the train covered in tin foil from head to toe. He pulled out a huge kitchen knife and was doing tricks with it while he was standing there.

I remember one time in particular - I was walking with my Dad, it was a cold winter day. We saw this bum laying there. My Dad felt bad as he said it reminded him of his Dad. So my Dad said to him, come on - let me buy you breakfast. The guy pulled out a straight edge razor and lunged at us screaming that he doesnt want the f*CKING breakfast. Give him the money so he can go buy booze. We just got the heck out of there.

NYC is becoming like something out of one of these apocalyptic movies set in the future. The only thing that will fix it is someone with a strong hand. As long as these Marxists run the show it will continue to get worse.

^ Very Illuminating, thanks. Question....

I appreciate the dose of pure reality and I figured it was pretty much like that.

Question: What does a city like NY do when it decimates its tax base due to corporate flight and individuals and families moving out? NYC is still "the place to be" corporate wise but it doesn't seem very stable. Meanwhile the lib administration there is absolutely dedicated to wasting as much taxpayer money on BS and persecuting normal law abiding people as much as possible.

--------

I have a very smol/minor NYC story of my own.

My wife and I visited there in October 2003 - conditions in NY were really good and Giuliani was "America's Mayor". Allies still smelled like sour milk but the crime on the street was much reduced at the time thanks to the city administration. We felt reasonably safe visiting there.

At night we were walking back to the port authority bus terminal. Some deranged woman, not that old and looking fairly normal and not dressed badly, started stalking us and berating us for looking at her like she was crazy.

The incident lead nowhere. She dropped off after we ignored her for awhile.

I could kind of see, though, that just living your life there would be a PITA. This was NY at its all time peak and we as random tourons ran into a weirdo.

The term is Zoo York. And thats being nice. The crime has gotten much, much worse since the pandemic. Its up like 23% year over year or something. I saw some article the other day.

Its freaking dangerous. You just dont know when it might happen.

Question: What does a city like NY do when it decimates its tax base due to corporate flight and individuals and families moving out?

I dont know if corporations are "officially" moving out. I do k now that the people that work in them are pushing back hard about being forced to come in there. I saw whining today that its "our fault" because NOBODY wants to come in the office. What will basically happen is they will have massive deficits. As long as they dont default on their debt the merry go ground will continue.

NYC is still "the place to be" corporate wise but it doesn't seem very stable. >Meanwhile the lib administration there is absolutely dedicated to wasting as much >taxpayer money on BS and persecuting normal law abiding people as much as possible.

I think that "place to be" stuff is just lip service. I dont think they really mean it nor care. The executives dont give a sh*t - they will order the employees to come in and they will helo in/out every day from the roof like out of a sci-fi movie. That stuff already goes on.

I read stories here about Wall Street guys who left during the pandemic and set up shop in other states. They punched out to get away from the Covid and the riots. Now that they have been in these other places they dont want to go back. I have read that many are selling their property in NYC and saying FU to these banks.

But what the city will do is offer the companies SUPER MEGA tax breaks to get them to come stay. Frankly there is not much to much industry left in the city beyond FIRE sector (finance, insurance and real estate). There are a sprinkling of tech companies like Google and Amazon but I think its all show and fluff.

The city always smells like a garbage dump because IT IS A GARBAGE DUMP.

Thats a dam scary story. That stuff happens a lot, you just have to make the wrong eye contact.

The stations can very dangerous at night. Be thankful that freakazoid just bailed on you.

The NJ Transit stations are very heavily patrolled so there is very little crime inside the stations but outside - good luck. I remember my Dad telling me when I was young - if you get stuck in Newark/New York Penn Station - DO NOT GO OUTSIDE. Stay in the vestibule where the police are.

Guiliani really cleaned the city up and made the police do whats called broken window policing. What that means is they crack down on people and force them to toe the line. That includes stop and frisks - DeBlasio stopped all that when he became mayor.

I have seen propaganda campaigns in the last few years trying to get people to come back. I had the itch to go in after Christmas as I was off from work.

I rode the trains with my Dad for years and wanted to go to the World Trade Center museum. My Dad used the WTC (world trade center) for literally his entire career (like 35 years) EVERY day. I did it for about 9 years on/off myself. We worked just a few blocks from the WTC.

But than it dawned on me - why bother going in, everything I know is gone from 9/11, etc....

I haven't heard anything about the other people involved being charged. What Penny did was defend himself and others on the train from a crazed lunatic bum. What else can you do in that situation? The city of NY knew Neely was a known problem but instead of locking him up or getting him help, they left him to mix in with the general public. I hope they don't decide to persecute Penny. He just defended himself.

People from the city are driving up the prices where I live. Any house you might want to live in gets far more than their asking price.

I've traveled on the trains to NY in the past and don't remember people like Neely. There were odd people but they weren't in your face or violent. That just isn't acceptable ever, but it was more under control in the past .

I can't believe what you dealt with on a train. I would be traumatized. NYC should be very ashamed of what they've become.

Crazy People Are Still Relatively Rare

Crazy violent people are still relatively rare. In the financial district (where I work), things have been relatively calm. A lack of workers also means no panhandlers, but there are more workers lately.

The police also do work somewhat in the nicer neighborhoods.

One thing I've noticed is that black people are much quicker to violence nowadays. The slightest perceived insult, they're ready to go straight to blows. It's a crowded subway, the train hits a bump and you bump into someone, then all of a sudden they're looking to fight.

The problem is you don't know when you'll run into one of them. I feel bad for the police in NYC. Its a tough job for them and they don't have enough resources. NYC was the safest when they had the plainclothes police that infiltrated crowds.

I think the BLM movement is directly responsible for black people's attitudes today. They promote violence.
