There is absolutely zero reason to call in the national guard. The NYPD has the ability to clear out the protest camp. They just need to be given the green light to do it. It would help if the DA actually prosecuted the people for trespassing (fat chance of that).

Columbia doesn't want the footage of the NYPD hauling students off to jail, so they're hoping the students will be convinced to back down.
