Looking at the situation as an alien would... (Public Board)
An alien would say "why is this enormous island that is geographically part of North America actually a colony of this small and remote Northern European country that has no ability to control its possessions? Why is the much more powerful and nearby US not the protector of this place?"
I can't believe Europe doesn't see the value of the US owning Greenland.
Just plain TDS. Trump does anything, it's automatically bad.
Europe loves its hollow historical precedents.
If Denmark had actually exploited and developed Greenland to an extent a takeover would be wrong. But the history is that Greenland is an inferior outpost to Denmark. Greenland's laborers are exploited for the fishing industry, housing on the island is decrepit and filled with things like black mold, and there isn't much of an economy. Basically Denmark pays for a UBI and health coverage for island residents. To me it seems like a dead zone.
In fact I read that Denmark at one point in the 50s and 60s was sterilizing young native women and removing kids from families and relocating them to Denmark in order to eliminate native (I think Inuit?) culture and language.
And meanwhile China is trying to control almost everything around its waters. Why not us?
