Trump wants Greenland because of its strategic location near the Arctic. He wants to expand the US military facilities there. They have a lot of rare earth minerals but Trump said its very difficult to mine there. It would be easier to mine on the moon.

I can't believe Europe doesn't see the value of the US owning Greenland. The new frontier for Russia and China is the Arctic. Trump sees that the US needs to have a stronger presence there to be able to protect the US and Europe. The Europeans don't see it like that. They see it as Trump moving in on their territory. Even though Greenland is an independent country domestically, it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Denmark is supposed to provide defense for them.

Trump is taking a hard line by imposing tariffs on some EU countries if they won't make a deal on Greenland. I don't think he'll take no for an answer either. The EU needs to make a deal. Who could better defend Greenland? The US or Denmark?

If the US got booted out of NATO we would be better off.
