I can't believe their backups were on the same volume. What dumbass set that up? Some of the backups should have been sent offsite or to a mirror site.

This article is a perfect example of why you can't trust AI to operate with no supervision. Companies seem to think that AI is infallible and all they need. Compared to an experienced, human database administrator, it has failed miserably because its reckless and has poor judgment. It even admits it, as if an apology means anything after your database is destroyed and your business disrupted.

Its a painful lesson and I hope other companies learn from it.
