My dentist's assistant/hygienist is retiring, due to health issues of relatives and she has to take care of them. My dentist is doing the hygienist work himself. I asked him "Why don't you hire someone new?"

His reply was "If I hire someone new, they can make a false sexual harassment claim against me and I'm out a million dollars." Apparently, all the hygienists know that all it takes is a no-evidence claim of harassment, and they can make big $$$$. All the dentists know that hiring someone new is risky, because it is much more likely to hire someone who wants to game the system than someone who wants to do the job.

If my dentist is concerned about a false sexual harassment claim, that means he probably knows other dentists that fell for the trap.

That was an interesting example of society breaking down. My dentist can't hire a new hygienist, because if he hires an abuser they can take him to the cleaners.
