My town, Lebanon, felt like a country town 30 years ago when I moved here. It hasn't exactly gone to shit but it has been co-opted by the big suburban growth pressure from Cincinnati and Dayton.

People living here now are total brainless suburban normies with no appreciation of anything rustic unless it's some shitty overpriced faux country goods.

I don't like or enjoy people in this area. I go out of necessity. I avoid the mouth breathers. Every time I've given someone the benefit of the doubt around here I've been burned or had my time wasted.

In light of that I have no real reason to mix with the locals that I deservedly look down on.
