I saw a post on another forum that explained why Gaetz was a brilliant pick. The Gaetz pick was not to get him actually confirmed. The Gaetz pick forces all the RINOs out into the open voting against Gaetz.

Now Trump knows who's on board, and who's on team RINO/Deep State.

All the people voting against Gaetz will lose their next primary. Even though that's not for 2-4-6 years, it's still an important step.
