I can see the attraction because they are pretty intelligent or seemingly so.

But they can be real pests. My missus had a patch of sunflowers. Beautiful things they were, about 6 foot high. Bloody sulphur-crested cockatoos snipped all the flowers off the stalks, just below the flower. Didn't eat them or anything, just snipped them. Bastards of things they are. The missus was never tempted to try the sunflowers again. How sad is that.

This sort of thing is not at all uncommon.
