Mail-in Voting (Main Board)

by JoFrance, Saturday, June 27, 2020, 18:49 (8 days ago)

In NJ, our Governor Murphy signed an EO to make our primary election mail-in only. He blamed the virus. Its scheduled for July 7. NJ cases have been going way down and we're opening up, btw.

There was no reason to do this other than as a "test run" for the possibility of doing it for the general election. If you got a mail-in ballot, you have no choice but to vote by mail. Each county will have only one polling place open and they will only offer provisional ballots for those that did not get a mail-in ballot. Only registered voters got a mail-in ballot.

This just isn't right and is ripe for fraud. First off, why put my political affiliation on the front of the envelope. Who needs to know that? The mailman?

We just had a major voting fraud case in Paterson NJ in May.

My fear is that there will be another "spike" in the virus right around the Nov. election and some governors may do just what my governor just did to go to all mail-in voting.

Voting by mail is essentially asking for fraud. The confidence of the public in an election result comes from the fact that every step is scrutinised. Of all the steps involved in voting by mail, especially from the time the ballots enter the postal system, where is the scrutiny?

I don't even understand why you people permit voting machines. Anything that is programmable can do anything the programmer chooses to have it do. Paper ballots placed personally in a secure box is the only fully scrutinisable system.

The Dems want mail in votes to rig the election since they hate Trump and hate America.

Our voting system is crap no matter what system is used. Normally we have voting machines, but we do not get a paper receipt and we do not get any kind of confirmation that the vote was recorded correctly. Voter ID is not required in my state to vote and that is important here because there is a huge illegal alien population.

Its true the voting machines can be hacked, but they are all stand-alone systems, so there would maybe be isolated incidences but not widespread. With paper ballots, it all depends on the poll workers who count them.

Why Bother Voting in NJ & There Is Already Election Fraud Via The Mail Ins in NJ

First off NJ is as blue as it comes. Whatever commie fucker is on the ballot thats whom they will vote for. There is no way our electoral votes are going for Trump and on top of this the Democrats control the state left to right, top to bottom.

Frankly its a giant waste of tiem.

The end result is there is no point. The same criminals and asshats get in and than the citizens wonder why their taxes are so high.

On top of this there is already election mail in ballot fraud:

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal filed criminal charges against four individuals—including two city council officials—last week for allegedly engaging in voter fraud with mail-in ballots.

Grewal announced the charges at a press conference last week, saying that “if you try to tamper with an election in New Jersey, we will find you and we will hold you accountable. We will not allow a small number of criminals to undermine the public’s confidence in our democratic process.”

The investigation began after hundreds of mail-in ballots were found bundled together in a mailbox in Paterson.

According to a press release from the state, the following four individuals were charged in the case:

Michael Jackson, 48, of Paterson—1st Ward Councilman and Council Vice President, was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Alex Mendez, 45, of Paterson—3rd Ward Councilman-Elect, was charged with Election Fraud (2nd Degree), Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), False Registration or Transfer (Third-Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Shelim Khalique, 51, of Wayne, N.J., was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Abu Razyen, 21, of Prospect Park, N.J., was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree) and Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree).

NBC New York reported that 16,747 vote-by-mail ballots were received but only 13,557 votes were counted. Around 800 votes were not counted because they “were found improperly bundled in mailboxes” and the remaining 2,390 disqualifications were due to signature discrepancies.

“We did not receive vote by mail ballots and thus we did not vote,” one resident told NBC New York. “This is corruption. This is fraud.”

An attorney for Jackson said in a statement to CNN that his client will be fighting the charges.

“He will be contesting all of these charges,” Theodore Kyles Jr. said in a statement. “And I can tell you that Councilman Jackson is a fine public servant with many, many years of distinguished service to the community, even before he was elected to the city council.”

Paul Brickfield, an attorney for Mendez, also told CNN that his client will be fighting the charges.

“He’s going to be pleading not guilty to the charges,” Brickfield said. “He looks forward to being vindicated. He looks forward to being sworn in on July 1 as the duly elected councilperson for District 3.”

There have been numerous examples of voter fraud found throughout the U.S. this year, with a couple of notable cases coming out of Philadelphia and West Virginia.

I know NJ is a lost cause at this point. Even if we do get a Republican, its a RINO. Still, sometimes strange things happen, like when Chris Christie was elected Governor. He had his faults, but he was far better than any Dem. Something like that could happen again. Not many people like Governor Murphy.

Not many people like Governor Murphy.

Really? Based on a couple of youtube videos I saw of him, he seemed like a halfway decent guy (at least for a Democrat). Even Trump had good things to say about him. I know nothing about the guy though so feel free to enlighten me.

With paper ballots, it all depends on the poll workers who count them.

The solution to that problem is to have representatives of the returning officer do the counting and representatives of the candidates do the monitoring of the counting.

If you're interested in a good model to look at with a view to possibly making alterations to your own electoral systems at local, state and federal level, check out the Australian Electoral Commission. Certainly we elect our share of oxygen-wasters at all levels but the election results themselves are very uncontroversial. There was an incident a few years ago when a few boxes of ballots were mislaid, requiring a Senate election to be repeated in that State (Western Australia), but things like that a very rare (first time I've ever seen that one). We have the Court of Disputed Returns (actually the Australian High Court sitting under a different name) to deal with the occasional dispute.

The biggest problem we have is branch-stacking (rigging the selection of a candidate). That is certainly an issue but it relates to the way political parties run their branches and select their candidates rather than to the election process itself.

We turn up to a polling place, have our name and address crossed off a pre-printed list by an electoral officer (mostly volunteers paid a small casual wage), are handed our ballot papers which we later deposit in the appropriate boxes. We don't show any ID, just give our name and address. The boxes are collected later and the votes counted by electoral officers watched by representatives of the candidates. The scrutineers can challenge individual ballot papers and so on.

A person could vote at two different polling places but that fact will be picked up when all the lists are reconciled (a single name and address will be crossed off twice instead of once). Having the name and address, investigations can be done if necessary. If someone votes in your name and you vote, that will be picked up the same way. In short, there are lots of ways in which things work out. None of these problems affect enough votes to actually steal an election.

We have something similar, normally. I go to my polling place and they check off my name on a pre-printed list and then I use the voting machine, but I live in a smaller town. In the cities there is a lot more voter fraud though. Not every county or state votes in the same way. Its just a big mess and any attempts to improve the system are always contested by the Democrat party who scream "voter suppression". They want to continue the fraud because thats how they win elections.

We have a big illegal immigrant voting problem in the US.
