Will Socialist (Communist) Mamdani win in NYC? (Public Board)

Some big money people are backing Cuomo, but I don't think it'll be enough in the end. Even though Cuomo isn't much better than Mamdani at least he isn't a Socialist/Communist. Curtis Sliwa, the Republican, would've been the best choice in this race, IMO, but NYC is mostly Democrat so he has no chance.

Mamdani's election will embolden the socialist/communist nuts across the country, but it won't take long before he fails rather badly. The man never had a real job yet now he's going to run the largest city in the country. Good luck with that.

He's got really stupid ideas and he panders to resentment. IMO he's a shoe-in.

I've seen videos of his rallies and he seems to have tapped into fanatical screaming support. Not specifically leftist, but he's reaping most of the uninformed-stupid-doesn't read-heads-down voting public. If you don't understand money, policy, governance, civics, or applied ethics, and you never pay attention to anything, and you also resent anyone who has more than you just because, he's totally 100% your guy.

I don't see how he can possibly lose. There's just so many mentally lazy stupid voters.

Of course his policies will provide 1/10 or less what he promises and will drive paying taxpayers out of the city in droves. But somehow Trump and republicans will be blamed.

Just take the concept of city run groceries. NYC has basically blocked Walmart from entering NYC but they are the world's experts at logistics and lowering prices where possible. Groceries have like a 1-2% margin and require elaborate supply chains. I watched a video of this where the guy talks to passers by and essentially NYC is drowning in food - restaurants, bodegas, supermarkets on every block. NYC is the polar opposite of a food desert.

Styxenhammer supports Mandami winning as a way to get the concept of a communist out in the open and put him to work. Styx basically says that Mandami winning will give the Democrats chemotherapy.

Mamdani looks like he wins easily.

Sliwa has no chance of winning and was never a serious candidate. Republicans screwed up by letting him the primary unopposed. They should have anticipated Mamdani winning the Democrat primary and fielded a serious candidate.

Some people say Cuomo is running to throw the election to Mamdani. Cuomo won't get enough votes to win, but he is getting enough votes to prevent Sliwa or anyone else from winning. With Cuomo in the race as an independent, that prevented a stronger anti-Mamdani candidate from getting traction.

There is no runoff or ranked choice in the NYC general election. Mamdani will win with 40%-45% of the vote, with Silwa taking just enough votes from Cuomo to throw the election to Mamdani.

Even though it sounds nice when campaigning, Mamdani won't be able to implement most of his plan. A lot of his proposals require approval of the NY state legislature, such as tax hikes and rent freezes.

Since I live in NYC, I'm hoping it isn't a total disaster.

Even if Mamdani loses, NYC has a steadily growing Muslim population. Even if Mamdani loses, 4 years from now, NYC will have even more Muslims. Some Muslim will get elected mayor eventually. At some point, there will be a Muslim mayor than can win without pandering to the left and the commies.

He's a socialist and his ideas are unaffordable. Why should city government be involved with running grocery stores at all when established businesses can do it better?

I don't know what NYC is like now. Food was always expensive there so Mamdani wants to show government can do groceries better and cheaper. Free buses too! Its all paid for by the new tax increase coming soon.
