I've been OK.
Medical:
I was on a personal high after being discharged from the hospital last August. By every objective measure (clinical tests, blood work, PET scans, etc) my heart ejection fraction has substantially improved since the fall, and I am clean for lymphoma or cancer (the cardiologist wanted the PET scans which happen to also cover internals in detail). Slowly though while improving objectively I seem to have low energy, have lightheaded spells constantly... the doctor team can't really advise. I am on about 10 different prescriptions which I loathe.
I'm healthy-ish but don't feel that great. I stay busy physically and mentally but life has changed.
Mentally:
I'm now in a stoic frame of mind. I realized recently that when my mother in law passes, my wife and I will have absolutely nobody in the world who would miss us or care that we were gone. It's not for lack of trying. Friendships I used to have have faded. I used to try really hard to stay in contact, and tried to be helpful, then got tired of being the only one, then never hear back, and that was that. That happened from about 2008 to 2020. For one reason or another we never click with anyone. We've attempted to maintain friends from say church and usually they have rafts of their own personal problems, or, they are dumb as a board and depressing to converse with.
Socially:
God damnit I just wish I had someone at my level to TALK to.
This board is hosted and ran for you guys at this point.
I don't see anything worth contributing to here. Whenever I post something I am interested in, it is of 0 interest to all y' all. You guys never reveal hobby or lifestyle interests, just political and mass cultural stuff at the surface. So that is why I rarely surface.

You've often said that. We all post things, some get replies and some don't. That's life.
Sorry to hear you're not feeling as chirpy as the doctors think you should be.

I'm glad to hear you're doing much better now. I was getting worried that something was wrong. Its going to take time for you to get back to feeling like your old self. As far as the low energy and lightheaded spells, its probably from one of your medications. I've been on blood presssure meds and beta-blockers for a long time. They lowered my energy level and the blood pressure medicine made me dizzy. I don't know what meds they have you on but I'd take a look at the side effects.
Its good that you have a stoic frame of mind because life isn't kind when you get older. Its hard to take that no one would miss you or care if you were gone but thats how it ends up sometimes. You should try joining one of those Meet-Up groups. My sister, who is a little younger than you, has made a lot of new friends from all walks of life going to those. She joined one where you meet and play pickleball once a week. Its all people that want the same thing you do. To establish friendships.
I post political stuff or cultural stuff that I hope will generate a discussion. It doesn't always happen but its great when it does. Its hit or miss.

Glad your health situation has improved. I went to an ENT recently for a sinus infection as told my lymph nodes were "swollen". Of course I was thinking worse case scenario. Went in for an ultrasound and fortunately it was negative.
You mentioned hobbies. Were you ever into gaming?
If I were retired, I think I'd get back into gaming. I've never been a hardcore gamer like so many techies I've worked with but I played in my youth and since then it's been an on and off thing but mostly off. Started play a few hours here and there over the past few months.
Ever think about taking a university class for "fun"? You might find people you can relate to that are on your level. And you don't have to suck up to any professors at this stage of the game. You could be the smart ass in the class that knows more than the professor. :)

I had a bad sinus infection this year too. My face was swollen and I had a clogged ear. I'm over it for the most part now, but it took a long time.
Its funny that you mention taking a university class for fun. When I was in my early 20's I took a creative writing course at the local college. I thought it was fun at the time, but if I took the class today I'd get so much more out of it because of my life experience. In your 20's you're just starting out in life.
