haha I'll qualify that a little. Nations have interests. In any given circumstance, if it was in the US' interest to defend Australia (or anyone), it would happen and if it was in the US' interest to not defend, THAT would happen. I'm under no illusion that there is any altruism at all in the foreign affairs of any country :)
