Columbia has had a huge anti-Jewish riot the past few days. The head Rabbi for the Jewish students' group warned all Jews to say off campus because it isn't safe.

They are anti-Jewish and not pro-Palestinian, because they are assaulting and threatening any Jewish-looking students who pass by.

They are using the usual Antifa tactics of threatening and getting in your face, but falling just short of what would be a clearcut arrest. If the victim defends themselves (such as pushing them out of their face), then they get violent and say "They started it first."

If your protest is anti-Israel but not anti-Semitic, I don't see the justification for assaulting random Jews who likely have no official relationship with Israel. Assaulting random Jews for being Jewish actually makes a stronger argument for why Israel needs to exist in the first place.

The riot has been going on for a few days. There is now a group of non-Columbia-affiliated protestors hanging out by the campus entrance and assaulting Jews who pass by. Anyone who's a troublemaker who wants to assault people and get away with it, knows that Columbia is now a safe place for violent people. That's why the protest has expanded and is hard to stop now.

Columbia has suspended some students for participating in the riot, but most likely they will just get a slap on the wrist.
