90% of U.S. Cheese Contains GMO Made by Pfizer (Public Board)

"Rennet is used as a clotting agent to curdle the milk into cheese, separating the liquid parts of milk from the solids. Pfizer makes a genetically modified rennet, but because of a labeling loophole, cheese containing Pfizer's rennet does not have to be labeled as containing a genetically modified organism.

Today, there are four types of rennet used in the cheese-making industry: animal rennet, vegetable rennet, microbial rennet and a genetically modified version called FPC (fermentation-produced chymosin), made by Pfizer."

No wonder the pizza where I live tastes like crap. They use the Pfizer rennet cheese and you can't digest it.

Interesting so I read up. 90% of US cheese is made with the Pfizer enzyme.

An alternative is to buy animal rennet and make your own mozzarella.(The easiest cheese to make at home.)

Supposedly animal rennet makes the best tasting cheese. The synthetic stuff is one dimensional.

I suspect you'd get the non GMO cheese by buying imported products and paying through the nose.

I would like to have a go and I'm sure the missus would too.

Funny how mozzarella is the easiest. I'm up for some home-made mozzarella.

So make your own cheese.

I don't really want to make my own cheese, I want to know what cheese I can buy without the Pfizer crap. I'll pay for something good.

All I can think is - find an artisanal cheese counter or shop that is staffed by counter people who know this stuff. There is a huge market demand for non GMO, healthy and clean foods and it should be easy to find what you need.

I was about to say Whole Foods but they're owned by Amazon so you can't trust them for something like this.
