Elon Musk's influence in our government (Public Board)

We have such a dysfunctional government. The government will shut down after tomorrow if they don't raise the debt ceiling. Its always the same dog and pony show every year. The House comes up with a pork-filled bill for billions of dollars with all kinds of goodies for them and their pet projects. They think they deserve an almost 40% pay raise this time. House members make $174k now, so that is quite substantial.

When they first introduced the bill (The American Relief Act of 2024) in late December it was 1,547 pages long and there was no time for Congress to read it. Trump was against it and Elon said it shouldn't pass. It didn't, but Elon is digging into the mission of DOGE. He makes a good point that no more bills should be passed until Trump takes office.

That's good advice. Letting the Government shut down is a Christmas gift to the people so they can't spend any more of our money. I think the Trump/Musk alliance is going to be so positive for us and the world. I pray it will be.

I absolutely love the picture of Trump and Musk shaking hands in that article. Elon looks so committed to helping Trump.

How did Vivek Ramaswamy earn your distrust and apprehension that he was the fifth column while Elon is to adore?

I see Elon Musk's picture alongside actual elected officials in the evening news and he seems to be a de facto administration member without having yet even being nominated. I'm like "yeah, I know who he is and what he has done, now who the f*** IS he and what is he doing as more prominent than Trump's VP?"

The guy's a South African who honed his brand. As a businessperson he is not that reputable... His car owners have constant complaints about Tesla's commitment to service and some owners have been singled out for complaining the loudest. I'm noting that because VR's business has been deemed slimy by a lot of people.

I just don't see significant moral, character or trust difference between the two.

Having said that I like both equally, which is to say that they are far better than anything produced as actual politicians by the Dems and both will serve the country better.

I would accept VR more in a similar role than Elon M just because he's born American but that probably isn't that important, love of country is more important.

DOGE

I like the notion of DOGE more than the individuals running it. I wouldn't care who was running it as long as someone was, and doing so in good faith.

Initially, I didn't trust Vivek and thought he was a BS artist, but the more I got to hear from him I realized he was committed to the cause of saving the country. We are so lucky to have them both involved in DOGE. Its a gift from God because our government is so corrupt from top to bottom and the country, and the world, is in dire straits. We need some real reform and the team they're putting together at DOGE will lead the way.

Elon is one of a kind. He is a visionary and works tirelessly on all of his various businesses. I don't know how he keeps them all straight. I was very impressed with his unwavering stand on free speech and how he handled the takeover of Twitter. He exposed for all to see how our government used it to silence conservative voices. It cost him plenty to take over Twitter ($44B, I think) but it was the beginning of the end for the Democrat propagandists. Elon delivered a body blow to them from which they never recovered. He took away the left's primary tool to control the conversion and silence any opposition. He stood strong against the opposition and you know how he gutted Twitter. That is why I absolutely love him.

If DOGE can unravel the absolute nightmare of our government and make it even semi-better I'll be forever grateful to them. We have a unique opportunity now to cut the size of our government, dramatically. I can't wait to see it happen.

I'm happy you changed your mind about VR

I have a pretty accurate take on peoples' character. I didn't see any holes whatsoever in Vivek R's back story or his expressed ideas about how the country should move forward.

I sort of lump VR and Musk together mentally even though the economic achievement level differs between them by an order of magnitude. Basically they are both unelected patriots who want to help repair the country. Main difference in actual performance between the two is that Musk has his billions, bought X, and has the resources to realize a lot of the talk. And that moved him proximate to Trump.

VR would if he could IMO (he's a millionaire not a billionaire) but he is a huge asset in terms of his speaking talent and personality.

I like em both.

Initially, I saw Vivek as a gifted speaker and he reminded me of Obama when he first ran for president. Obama was a very eloquent speaker and he talked a good game, but there was something about him that didn't seem right. I didn't feel that way about Vivek, but felt he wasn't seriously interested in government. He was always well spoken, but he didn't have the passion and patriotism that I see now.

He really proved he was the real deal over time. We are so lucky to have both of them using their exceptional intellects to help remake our broken government. We need their outside influence because change will never happen from within. The system itself is broken. The government is a big dysfunctional monstrosity.

I like them too and think they'll play a big part in saving the country.
