so she looks like a boy, the only way you can tell she's a girl is from the less-than-pure-white feathers, boys' whites are always vivid.

So she's carrying eggs! She is coming around more often for bigger feeds. Hormones raging, bubbies incoming :)

I wish we had Magpies where I live, but they're only in the Western US. Springtime is my favorite season when all the birds are singing and raising their young. Magpies are such intelligent birds. I never knew the females got glossy when they're carrying eggs.

I love birds. I have feeders, houses and a couple of bird baths. Its year-round entertainment to watch what they do.

That is an understatement :)

We have one bird bath, a big one. Are yours different sizes? Our is next to a tuckeroo. The tuckeroo grew over the bath such that now by chance there is a big bough over the bath a foot and a half above the water. Often, birds will jump off the bough into the water, have a splish, jump up to the bough, have a shake, then do it all again.

[image]except ours is taller/older and the lower boughs are much more massive than the ones in this tree. edit: oh yes our trunk is much wider than this one, double perhaps

Yes maggies are so intelligent. Such characters.

My bird baths are big and fairly deep so the birds can do a good soak when they want. Both of them are near bushes and the feeder so they can get a bite to eat and then splash around afterwards. Some of them hang out at the bird baths and have a little pool party. The little finches like to do that.

I used to have more feeders, but it costs a small fortune to keep up with the demand. The birds all love sunflower seeds and pretty much eat the entire feeder in a day. I usually feed them every other day or two so they don't become too dependent.

The Tuckeroo is a nice size tree, just perfect for birds using a bough to dive into the bird bath.
