My yard this year (Public Board)

This is the first year I didn't plant any flowers or even herbs. It was a long cold Spring and the Summer was so hot I couldn't go outside on most days. Most days in Summer were 95 degrees, feels like 100+, or monsoonal rain. Sheets of rain, not drops. I decided not to bother this year with any of it.

I have so much overgrowth in my yard this year, its surreal. I've lived here about 35 years and this year my trees have double the leaves on them. They look like mopheads. The forest behind my house is so thickly overgrown I see no little peeks of light behind the trees. The growth is so thick, none of my four rosebushes bloomed this year. They depended on the filtered sunlight that comes through the trees.

I have Hydrangia bushes and they had double the blooms this year. I've had these bushes for 20 years and have never seen anything like it. They looked like pom-poms and really odd.

Something isn't right. Last year, I could see my neighbor's deck from the backdoor in my yard. Now I can't see their house at all despite being close. It's like the forest has taken over this year.

I was wondering if you noticed anything different about your weather or environment this year.

Aside from an occasional triffid attacking random neighbors blinded by the meteor storm, not much to report.

I had a lot of difficulty getting some stuff to start in the vegetable garden in the spring. Cucumbers would produce a few fruit and die off. Every vine died randomly for no good visible reason after giving a few good cucumbers. The weather here has been extremely rough on our plants - long super hot periods interspersed with some severe thunderstorms.

Triffids! What a blast from the past. I'll have to watch out for them. Anything could be lurking in the woods behind my house.

It's really hard to grow anything if the weather is so extreme. The weather here has been brutal all summer and its a marked difference from our mostly moderate summer temperatures of the past. Its unusual heat for long periods of time with little relief until now, in late August. I hope this isn't the beginning of a new cycle of summers like that. I also hope our government has nothing to do with it.

Don't fret. The seasons vary from year to year, I'm sure you have experienced the same. Authorities want to instill fear into us, don't let them win. Weather experiments have been going on for decades and still they have little control. Our ecosystem as a whole is too big for man to change in a non-trivial way.

I hope you're right that this is an anomaly and not the start of a new weather cycle where every summer is a blazing hot heat wave. I live in the mountains where its generally cooler all year round, so this weather is unusual. We might have heat waves for a couple of days here and there, but not an entire summer of high heat.
