A single person or family with a stockpile of food and water won't survive. Once people know you have supplies, they will kill you for your stash.

So true.

Which is why I don't stock food (much) and do focus on survival knowledge and equipment. Realistically I don't know how long we would last even so. Farming crops is out, hunting and gathering is the only option and that will be tough.
