Remember that in NYS they override the intention of the law whenever they feel like it.
One stray anonymous Facebook post that seems to be a troll isn't significant enough to sway these committed Marxists. Actually even in a legitimate trial I don't think something like this should affect things much, unless it was amplified with a lot more posts, etc.

It is conceivable that the very weak reason for the mistrial was concocted in order to ditch the verdict.
It is possible that the Dems are saying "this is turning everyone against us, let's lose this verdict and act like it didn't happen."
A mistrial would be an explainable technical reason for abandoning the verdict against Trump while saving face.
We'll know soon enough.

Trump has raised $400M for his campaign since the conviction, so what they've done has backfired, bigly. Plus, I think Judge Merchan is probably getting a lot of heat from all sides and may be trying to shut the case down to save face.
So much for their lawfare.

Being a rational type, the only two benefits to them that I can see is that they keep Trump occupied and that they give themselves a chance they can wear him down. Surely they know in advance that a conviction will be a big money-earner for him.
Especially now. Every case and every conviction now merely convinces additional fence-sitters that they really are out to get him.
