Lindsay Clancy Verdict - Not As Nuts As It Sounds

A lot of people have been deriding the Lindsay Clancy verdict, where it was 11-1 with one lone holdout for guilty of murdering her children. The other 11 jurors were voting for "not guilty due to insanity".

I read a little more details, and the verdict isn't as nuts as many people make it sound. They say she had mental health issues before the murder. The care she received was so awful that her doctors probably are guilty of malpractice. If you add in that bit of information, voting "not guilty due to insanity" sort of makes sense.

First day of Spring. Yesterday was 20C so warming up a little. Last two mornings were chilly and dewy so spring hasnt arrived yet.

Meanwhile the communist state government of Western Australia lost a by-election to a 5hird party that talks commonsense. And the communist state government of Victoria looks like it will be tossed out in November.

AI agents go rogue

A configuration error allowed an AI agent access to the internet and it hacked systems at other companies to get the answers it was seeking. This was during testing, but its disturbing because AI didn't figure out the answers on its own. It cheated. The video clip in this article explains it pretty well on a basic level.

Wildfire smoke and temperatures in the 90's is a real bad combination. How is it where you live? Yesterday was really bad in NJ. Canada blames it on climate change, of course, but the truth is they don't practice good forest management to lessen the risk of wildfires.

Its unacceptable that Canada isn't taking care of it NOW. They're poisoning the air we all breathe. I was outside for a little while yesterday and my eyes still burn today.

Why should it be allowed to have people from the DSA elected to our government? They have to take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the US, but they have other plans. Homeless Dude Moved In Building Next To Work

A homeless guy moved into the building next to work. He now has a huge stash of supplies, mattresses, drugs, candles, etc.

I complained with 311, twice, and they said "We investigated and couldn't find anything." Bullshit that they didn't notice the huge pile of stuff.

So NYC's official policy now is that, if you complain about the homeless, they mark the complaint "closed, didn't see anything" without actually do anything.

Look at the people who won their primaries in NYC. They beat the long-time incumbents. Part of the reason is only 10% of the people voted. If they get elected in the November elections we will have a communist caucus in our Congress that is gaining power. We can't allow this to happen.

I never did. The technology just isn't good enough. I thought this article really highlighted the problems with self-driving vehicles. The driver said he was in auto-pilot mode when the crash happened, but Tesla said he overrode the autopilot. I'm not sure what the truth is, but if you look at the short video of the car flying into the house its shocking.

Using Gemini In Search For A Task

I used Gemini in Google search to finish a complex coding task for me, porting a library to a Godot GDExtension.

The AI gets nothing right on the first try. The workflow is:

- The AI generates something that doesn't work but is sort of right.
- I cut + paste the error message.
- The AI fixes that bug, but now there's a new bug.
- Repeat the cycle 20 times, eventually it finally works.

The AI doesn't seem to really actually understand the thing it is implementing. What's it's doing is generating slop, then it looks at the error message to fix that specific error.

However, now that I see the end results, I actually do understand what it generated, so now I can fix or improve it on my own.

That's what happens under the hood of the coding agents. It's doing a cycle of code, compile, fix error, repeat. It runs the cycle until it gets something that works.

I Tried Google Antigravity - It Sucked

I decided to give Google Antigravity a try. It was awful.

I had it set to strictest permissions, ask for everything.

It kept trying to invoke node.js. I don't have node.js installed on my PC. It burned through 1/3 of my free quota trying to invoke node.js.

It burned the rest of my quota trying to invoke Python. I do have Python on my PC and told it the path. It kept failing.

My task was getting an implementation of text-to-image using an API call using Google's library. It made a whole bunch of mistakes.

1. The consumer and enterprise API have different features. It was giving me enterprise code but I have consumer.

2. Google deprecates and removes its APIs every few months. It was coding to a deprecated API.

3. Google gives you zero images on free tier, so it never would have worked anyway even if I got finished.

I uninstalled antigravity. Maybe I'll give it a try again in a year or two.

The editor was buggy. The installer said "you should install as user not administrator". Then when I ran it, it said "cannot auto-update, must be installed as administrator".

On the GUI, you could change the permission levels, but it didn't remember the choice after you closed the dialog.

Such basic errors made it look like nobody ever tried seriously using it.

This article highlights why AI can never be allowed to run something on its own. As smart as AI is, it doesn't make good decisions, no matter which system you use. The results of this experiment are funny, but they make you wonder if you will ever be able to trust AI with greater tasks given how reckless it can be.

This is disappointing news for college grads starting out. It looks like the future for white-collar workers is managing AI in whatever profession you choose. That takes the satisfaction out of doing the job yourself and benefitting from the experience. The job is done before you walk in the door. You're just there to supervise AI.

Its almost like training your replacement. How long will it be before the company decides AI doesn't need you anymore?

You could always go for a blue-collar career. Maybe for men thats more of an option, but if you're interested in working in IT and just spent a bundle on college for a white-collar job you might not want to do that kind of work.

Do you Drink Coffee? I always did. Just two cups in the morning and I never had a problem until I got older. It started to bother my digestive system so I gave it up. Now I drink tea instead and I see a remarkable difference. My digestive problems went away and after a few months, my systolic blood pressure dropped 25 points! It was 125ish before down to 100 now and the only thing I did was give up coffee. Hmm.

I can't tell you how many articles I've seen touting the benefits of drinking coffee. I'm sure you've seen them too. Maybe if I gave up coffee years ago I wouldn't have needed blood pressure meds. I'd say its a possibility. So many people are on blood pressure meds it makes me wonder if all the articles pushing the benefits of coffee are published for the benefit of big pharma.
